Into The Future

"The new Hank’s will be on the second floor above the food park at Hill Country. It will be a stand-alone bar/venue with a much-improved sound system and slightly more space than we have now; it will remain open after the park closes for the day. I hope everyone will give the new space a real shot and know that I plan on continuing booking the way I always have, and we’ll do our best to infuse the new spot with as much of the spirit of the old Hank’s as possible. We are still sorting out an opening date, but it will be sooner than you think." -Lee Greenfeld, Dead Flowers Productions

LES SANS CULOTTES
with special guests HUH

The "Francophonique Tsunami" "Those Frilly Parisian Underthings" and "Seven-headed beast from the hard-scrabble streets of Menilmontant," Les Sans Culottes borrowed their name from the ill-clad (i.e., long-trousered) citizen- soldiers of the French Revolution. The band's sound is a melange of Gainsbourg, NY Dolls, Blondie, the Shirelles, and the Kinks.

Better Days

STEAK
THE JACK GRACE BAND
BOBBY COLE & THE RED HOOK HOBOS

Steak is founding members Erik Lieblein on rhythm guitar/vocals, Jack Grace on lead guitar/vocals, Stu Damm on drums, and occasionally founding member TJ Thomas on bass with Larry Cook and Daniel Garcia also sharing the bass chair. Their first fans developed from the Boulder, Colorado music scene in 1992 which included bands like The Samples, Big Head Todd and The Monsters Leftover Salmon and many others. The band played a "sarcastic latin/funk with everything including the kitchen sink kinda style" (Colorado Daily) and quickly developed a Colorado/West Coast underground group of followers. The word on their 'silly yet clever in a refreshing manner" (SF Weekly) stage show kept spreading and Steak began traveling California with the magical cult band, The Beat Farmers for a stretch. The road continued with a diverse pedigree of bands that included NRBQ, Uncle Tupelo, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Fishbone, The Funky Meters, Leo Nocentelli and Zigaboo Modeliste,  Steak got a tour bus and lived on the road for a few years, relocating to San Francisco and eventually basing themselves from Jack, Erik and Stu's birthplace of New York City. Steak is internationally renowned primarily for it's song, "Big Bear" which is featured in the climax of the Fox Searchlight comedy hit, Super Troopers (along with another Steak track, "Second To The Bottle").

Last Kind Words

Phil Gammage's style of roots and blues influenced songwriting and music has been compared to everyone from Elvis Presley to Chris Isaak to Scott Walker — or as the Trouser Press once wrote "...underwrought darkside Americana echoing Nick Cave’s fascinations minus the melodrama. Which might well make Gammage this generation’s Hank Williams."  Eight albums, several U.S. and European tours, and numerous songs featured in television shows and commercials have earned Phil a growing following and a steady hum of praise. His most recent recording the 10-song Used Man For Sale is an album of outstanding Gammage penned songs.

Keeping This World Alive

VALLEY LODGE
RIBEYE BROS.FALLING STARSWINDBREAKER

Valley Lodge is the best rock band basically. You might know them from their wildly popular song "Go," which serves as the theme song to HBO's Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Anyway, the band is comprised of singer and guitar player Dave Hill (the internationally renown comedian and writer who has also been a member of Cobra Verde, Sons of Elvis, Walter Schreifels Band, Diamondsnake, and some others too), drummer Rob Pfeiffer (Sense Field), guitar player and singer Phil Costello (Tragedy, Satanicide, Diamondsnake), and bass player man Eddie Eyeball (2 Skinnee J's, Gordon Gano, and more!) Guitar player and founding member John Kimbrough (Walt Mink, Teen Judge, Tenacious D) provides additional rock heat and spiritual guidance via his Los Angeles bunker. They sound kind of like Cheap Trick, T. Rex, Big Star, Raspberries, Thin Lizzy, Matthew Sweet, Slade, the Kinks, and probably a bunch of other stuff too. It's power-pop meets pop-rock meets your best friend's parents going out of town when you are sixteen and think that they won't notice if you threw a pool party. Oh, and it's 1978 and you are hooked on glue.

Right On Time

After three long years...
It's the triumphant return of The Brought Low!

The Brought Low are a hard rock power trio from New York City who formed in 1999. They released their self-titled debut record on Tee Pee Records in 2001. In 2006 they released their long awaited sophomore effort, Right On Time on Small Stone Records (Dixie Witch, Sasquatch, 5 Hose Johnson). The record was hailed as an instant classic by The Boston Phoenix, Lollipop, Roadburn and Stonerrock.com among others. Third Record, their last album for Small Stone, was produced by Andrew Schneider (Pelican, Cave In, Scissorfight). The band is known for its live show and has shared the stage with Them Crooked Vultures, Supersuckers and Nebula among others and has performed at the Emissions From The Monolith and South By Southwest music festivals.

"[Andi Rae's] vocals are at once potent, powerful, fragile, beckoning, vulnerable yet guarded. She writes like someone who has tasted her share of life; has been hurt; has been exhilarated; has found and lost her faith. There is a dare in this music... -BuddyHollywood

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Andi Rae Healy has been a mainstay on New York City’s indie-country scene for nearly a decade. Her debut album, I Guess I Am A Sinner — featuring contributions from artists as diverse as pop princess, Cyndi Lauper and indie darling, Jill Sobule — was released in 2006 and earned rave reviews for its deep melodicism, lush production, and its brutally honest and painfully heartfelt lyrics.

The Manimals are a female-fronted, gender and genre-bending five-piece from New York City. Darn That Dream

Birth Of The Cool is an acoustic jazz group based in Brooklyn, New York, which lovingly re-imagines the music of legendary trumpet player Miles Davis from the 1940s and 1950s. This incredibly fertile era of Miles Davis’ music spans rhythm and blues, the invention of bebop, the creation of cool jazz, and the development of hard bop, as well as the inception of modal jazz music.

Birth Of The Cool features a combination of veteran NYC-based musicians, as well as new faces on the scene, including trumpet player and producer Jeremy Mush1 (The Slackers/Hungry March Band/Fireproof/The Scorchers), drummer Luis Zuluaga (The Slackers), pianist Harold Weg, baritone saxophonist Patrick Laslie, and tenor saxophonist Andrew Schwandt.
