THE PLIMSOULS
McKINLEY JAMES

The newly "Re-Souled" Plimsouls is a resurgence of the 1980s California rock band, but with a new look. Original Plimsouls guitarist Eddie Munoz teams up with random cool friends to bring the classic sounds of The Plimsouls to the stage, songs like "A Million Miles Away", "Oldest Story In The World", "Now," plus songs from the Valley Girl soundtrack.

McKinley James is a 17-year old Rock & Roll guitarist/singer from Rochester, NY.  His father, drummer Jason Smay (Los Straitjackets, JD McPherson Band) helped raise McKinley in a very musical household. He started on the Hammond organ at 7 but discovered his passion for guitar at 10. His influences range from Link Wray to Freddie King and Otis Redding. He started performing in Rochester blues and jazz clubs at age 13 and has performed with Chris Duarte, The Nighthawks, Joe Beard and JD McPherson. McKinley is also the face of the latest Eric Church album campaign, having starred in his videos, and also appears on the album cover for Church's latest record, Mr. Misunderstood. McKinley is also very excited to announce the release of his first EP, Live In Nashville.

THE JERRY DUGGER TRIO
(Featuring Hero Suzuki, Mark Greenberg, and special guest Craig Dreyer)

NEW MOON ACOUSTIC BLUES BAND
HOMEBOY STEVE

Jerry Dugger was born in The Bronx and raised in Harlem. He caught the music bug early in life, listening to his parents Ida and Alfonza sing around the house, singing with them in church, and listening to their collection of 78rpm records.  Through an amazing set of circumstances, a late night walk through Washington Square Park and a life changing encounter with Matteus Mederer (who was busking under the arch),  Jerry found himself being introduced to the New York City blues scene and Dan Lynch Blues Bar. He spent thirteen years studying the blues there, watching and performing with Bill Dicey, The Holmes Brothers and eventually hosting the Saturday and Sunday afternoon jam sessions. This little bar became the hub of the Blues scene in NYC. Many legendary Blues musicians, Johnny Copeland, James Cotton, Hubert Sumlin, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, just to name a few, stopped by to hang out and sing a song on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Dan Lynch was also the launching pad for many up and coming Blues artists.

Runnin' Yo' Mouth On Me

ROBERT KIMBROUGH Sr. BLUESCONNECTION
APACHE BROWN BAND • HARLEM SLIM

Robert Kimbrough Sr continues the Cotton Patch Soul Blues style created by his father, the legendary Junior Kimbrough. From an early age, Robert was steeped in the sounds and life of North Mississippi and its distinctive style of blues. Growing up, Robert listened, first-hand to Mississippi blues royalty that played with his father at home, at Junior’s Juke Joint Club, and the ever frequent weekend house party and porch jam session. The blues was simply part of everyday life as a Kimbrough. Robert continues his father’s musical tradition, along with some of his siblings. You can often find many of them sharing the stage on any given night in Mississippi. The Kimbrough name, along with the Burnside name, is part of a blues dynasty that remains strong today, bringing people from all over the world to see and hear them play.

The Cotton Patch Soul Blues style that Robert plays is a straight link to the music that his father originated in North Mississippi. It is a deep soul sound that can be linked back to his ancestors coming from the cotton fields, singing and ‘hollering‘ as they worked in the tall rows of Mississippi cotton. This distinct and somewhat underground style of blues is rooted in hypnotic, rhythms and dance-able grooves. The Black Keys released an entire album in 2006 of Junior Kimbrough cover songs called Chulahoma: The Songs of Junior Kimbrough. Up until the mid '80s, the only way to hear this music was to visit a church-turned-blues-den founded by Junior Kimbrough in Chulahoma, MS that unfortunately burned down in 2000.

Last Kind Words

Phil Gammage's style of roots and blues influenced songwriting and music has been compared to everyone from Elvis Presley to Chris Isaak to Scott Walker — or as the Trouser Press once wrote "...underwrought darkside Americana echoing Nick Cave’s fascinations minus the melodrama. Which might well make Gammage this generation’s Hank Williams."  Eight albums, several U.S. and European tours, and numerous songs featured in television shows and commercials have earned Phil a growing following and a steady hum of praise. His most recent recording the 10-song Used Man For Sale is an album of outstanding Gammage penned songs.

Open My Mind

"The duo manages to make the now familiar line-up of guitar and drums sound urgent again, and they spit out both gritty, saturated blue-rock and airy, almost Spector-esque pop with a quiet strength."

Mr. Airplane Man is Margaret on guitar and Tara on drums. Their sound is a mishmash of Mississippi hill country blues, Memphis weirdo rock'n'roll, drony VU and Stooges, and Boston garage-beat and pop wonderment. The band started in the late '90s. Almost immediately, they joined Morphine for a US tour and recorded a self-titled EP with Mark Sandman of Morphine. They went on to tour the US extensively, playing with The Reigning Sound, White Stripes, Detroit Cobras, Holly GoLightly, Hot Snakes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blues Explosion, Dirtbombs and many more.

During the '90s and '00s, Mr. Airplane Man released three albums and an EP on Sympathy for the Record Industry. They successfully toured Europe and played two Peel Sessions on John Peel’s BBC radio show. Now Mr. Airplane Man is happy to be playing and recording again, after taking a break to have babies, live in the desert, and generally shake up their lives.

Get Low Down!

GUITAR LIGHTNIN' LEE
AND HIS THUNDER BAND
FRIGHT BARKER & SONS • THE SAYLAVEES

Guitar Lightnin' Lee, a multi-talented rhythm&blues purist, has defied all rational logic by assembling his band with a bunch of veteran rock'n'rollers half his age. His talent, lyrics, powerful voice, and boisterous personality match perfectly with his backup band. Thus, creating a supercharged blown out style of New Orleans rock'n'roll and blues. The youthful exuberance from all members, especially Lightnin’, keeps the music exciting and gives it the vibrancy it had in it’s heyday.

Raised in the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans over 60 years ago, Lightnin’ had music all around him. After learning from New Orleans blues great Boogie Bill Webb, Lightnin’ went to Chicago to find his inspiration Jimmy Reed. When Jimmy Reed wasn’t throwing Lightnin’ out of his house and telling Lightnin’ to go back to New Orleans, he was showing Lightnin’ his style of Delta Blues via electrified Chicago. After moving back to New Orleans, Lightnin’ played with and around such New Orleans legends as Earl King, Fats Domino, Ernie K-Doe, Little Freddie King, and scores of other brilliant New Orleans musicians. Lightnin’s ears were wide open to the sound around him and he soaked it up like a sponge. For years he listened, learned, and honed his playing and song writing skills in the best of company.

In 1997, Lightnin’ found a young drummer, Paul Artigues (Die Rotzz). They played together for years working on their sound. With the addition of slideman Ted Mathews and bassist Marvin Hirsch they formed the Thunder Band. Guitar Lightnin’ has released two 7-inch records on die Slaughterhaus Records and a self-released CD.

Whatcha Gonna Do About It?

THE LIZA COLBY SOUND
CRAZY MARY • THE GLASS STATE

Black. White. Rock. Soul. The next siren of popular music has arrived. Hailing from the Lower East Side of NYC, The Liza Colby Sound is all things rock'n'roll. Matched with a trio of seasoned virtuoso's, this is a sound born in the '70s and too infrequently carried by a young woman of today. Liza personifies this baton of a rare tradition when she stands amongst these outstanding men. Her beauty remarkable, her arms outstretched and when her mouth opens, there is a distinct sound. A sound that is the youthful rage and lust of garage-rock, a sound that is the temperance and timeless dignity of soul. A sound that is a refined alloy of all the great artists who’ve proceeded her. A sound that demands to be heard. The Liza Colby Sound.

JITTERY JACK • THE MILLWINDERS

Jittery Jack brings his East Coast bang to the world of Rockabilly and '50s inspired rock'n'roll. He has headlined at the Viva Las Vegas festival numerous times, and has toured internationally headlining many festivals including UK's the Rockabilly Rave and Australia's Camperdown Cruise. Jack has also recorded for both Wild Records in Hollywood, CA and Rhythm Bomb Records in Germany who released his 2014 full length, Gonna Have A Time.

The four members of Toronto's Millwinders are no strangers to the Rockabilly scene, having played previously in bands such as The Royal Crowns, Real Gone, The Tin Eddies, and Cool Jerk. Together since 2009, this quartet has been making a name for themselves, entertaining crowds with their traditional rockabilly, and r&b-infused sound. Their strong debut album Ladies and Gentlemen, The Millwinders, has sent them performing around the continent at major rockabilly and blues festivals including the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender twice. With all four members handling vocal duties, the strength of The Millwinders truly is in the sum of it's parts.

Look What Your Love Has Done To Me

PETER LANCTOT & THE STRAY DOGS
THE SLIM KINGS

Pete Lanctot is a singer songwriter living in Brooklyn, NY. His songs are surreal and mysterious narratives often featuring sordid casts of characters who’s time, locations and origins are vague, and seem equally likely to be found in present day NYC, a Memphis juke joint of the '20s or hitchhiking a depression-era plains state highway. Musically, Pete’s songs carry on the American traditions of blues, folk and country music while avoiding reproduction and derivation, and embrace sonic experimentalism and the avant garde. Traditional blues and ballad forms are bent from their original shapes by untraditional playing techniques, droning accompaniments, and interactive free improvisation within the band. In a live setting, Pete accompanies his singing with a wide array of instruments including guitar, viola, violin, accordion and the haunting sounds of a strohviolin (a bowed string instrument where the sound is produced through a metal gramaphone-like horn). His band features a rotating cast of talented musicians and improvisers. Often utilizing very traditional blues, country and string band instrumentations (upright bass, drums, guitar, horns, banjo and pedal steel), the result is far from a polite Americana sound.

You’ve got to revere and respect your roots in order to tread fresh territory. That’s when you can break ground and truly make a difference. The Slim Kings stand at the eye of a perfect storm for bluesy rock'n'roll. Among the New York group’s ranks are two young guns — singer, and rhythm guitarist Michael Sackler-Berner and lead guitarist Henry Geller — along with legendary drummer Liberty DeVitto, who spent over three decades playing on seminal records for, and performing with Billy Joel. Blending elegant song craft, impeccable instrumentation, and a whole lot of soul, this formidable lineup comes to life on its second full-length offering, Dirty Socks and in particular in the live setting.
