The Fix It!

"My father wanted a celebration of his life and legacy. No depressing funeral dirges for him, no way! Only positivity, love, music and dancing. This is our chance to give him the fiesta he dreamed of, to send him back out into the universe with style! Adios Papa, we will all see you on the Heaviside where all the cool cats go. Viva La Raza!" -Aram Delgado

Who among us wasn’t moved to tears, to frustration, to confusion, to bewilderment, to some other extreme feeling when we discovered that our government was separating children from their parents at the border; parents who were looking for a better place to raise their kids — just as our ancestors did however many years ago? Many of us in the New York City DJ community wondered what we could do to help, even if in some small, symbolic way. Our friend Anna Anabolic came up with a great idea: Spin To Win!

Here’s the deal. A bunch of your favorite club DJs will spin records. Attendees will win prizes. Money generated from this will go to the ACLU (which is helping immigrant parents get their kids back) and Make The Road New York (which helps immigrants locally here in New York City).

A bunch of prizes have been donated and there will be raffles throughout the night. DJs spin. You win. Together we can help people who need help... and do the shing-a-ling while we do it!

Saturday, August 18th at Hank's Saloon

Hanksy Panksy!

Every week since 1996,  DJ Mr. Fine Wine has been spinning soul — and R&B, blues, funk, gospel, instrumental, and uncategorizable — 45s at Botanica on Houston Street, as well hosting the incredible Downtown Soulville show on WFMU. Tonight we are very proud to bring him over the bridge for a night of sweet soul music.
