Gonna Get Ya

The High Stride — featuring folks you know from other boss NYC-area bands — play no bullshit, maximum R&B. This is the third show from Dead Flowers' favorite new local band. The Piggies are a bunch of NYC scene veterans who have kicked around in dozens of bands including the Little Killers, the Sea Monkeys, Wighat, Sato & Jonny, the Haney Brothers, the Poolside Cowboys, Holy Crow, the Underthings, the Dirt Cheap, and more that they don't remember (and neither do you). Posessing an extreme distaste for show-biz hustle and self-promotion, but a non-negotiable need to roll & rock, The Piggies can be found playing out in various NYC-area houses of ill repute on a regular basis, putting pretend rock'n'roll bands half their age to shame, and occasionally opening for touring acts like The Detroit Cobras, Barrence Whitfield & The Savages, The A-Bones, Mr. Airplane Man, and so forth. The "Francophonique Tsunami" "Those Frilly Parisian Underthings" and "Seven-headed beast from the hard-scrabble streets of Menilmontant," Les Sans Culottes borrowed their name from the ill-clad (i.e., long-trousered) citizen- soldiers of the French Revolution. The band's sound is a melange of Gainsbourg, NY Dolls, Blondie, the Shirelles, and the Kinks.

The Carvels are led by Lynne Von Pang, former front woman of seminal NYC scum-rock blues-punk band Da Willys and the tight, hard-rocking outfit Trick Babys. Lynne's voice is legendary on the lower east side rock scene, and she has shared the stage with legends like Sylvain Sylvain (NY Dolls), Clem Burke (Blondie), Wayne Kramer (MC5) and Walter Lure (The Heartbreakers). Along with Lynne's vocals and rhythm guitar, the sound is filled out by four top-notch seasoned musicians - co-founder Brian Morgan on lead guitar, Steve Pang on drums, Steven Fallon on bass and David Spinley on saxophone.

Get Some Action

After touring most of the world with The Afghan Whigs, future Mighty Fine singer Steve Myers returned home only to get shot and left for dead on a rainy New Orleans street. Myers moved to New York City to recover and try to put his past behind him, joining the Dulli lead Twilight Singers occasionally for shows on the East Coast or recording down South. Not until hooking up with fellow New Orleanian Jagon Eldridge in late 2003 did he think about starting a band of his own. The original line-up for Mighty Fine consist of Jagon Eldrige and Richie Pomerantz (Andy G & The Roller Kings), Mitro Valsamis (Trickbabys) and Paul Verciglio. For the last ten years Mighty Fine has rocked all over NY state, sharing the stage with TV On The Radio, Andre Williams, The Dirtbombs, The Slackers, Titus Andronicus, The Gories, Mary Weiss, and The Afghan Whigs. After releasing the album Get Up To Get Down on Drugfront Records in late 2011 (that included guest spots by Greg Dulli and Mick Collins), the band went thru several lineup changes including a UK tour lineup that included Collins on guitar. After taking some time to regroup Mighty Fine is back to what it does best, playing punk-soul all over NY state, now with new members Bradley Dean (The Visitors) on guitar and Mickey Finn (Boss Hog) on keys. "Sweaty rump-shakin' punk-soul" is a great way to describe the band, a combination of a James Brown styled soul review and a sweaty punk rock show. In this band, New York and New Orleans meet at the crossroads and no one moves an inch.

THE BRITEMORES
LES SANS CULOTTES
HEARTTHROB CHASIS • FLOWERED GNOMES

A supergroup nearly 30 years in the making, The Britemores is a collaborative effort featuring long-time Detroit musical allies Johnny Chan (New Dynasty 6/Split Signals), Jeff Meier (Detroit Cobras/ Compulsive Gamblers/Rocket 455/Nathaniel Mayer/Gino Washington), Jerry Barterian (Onset/Hysteric Narcotics) and Will Lorenz (aka "the kid"). Comprised of myriad styles and influences, The Britemores’ music gives a thoughtful, greasy nod to Detroit garage/punk legends through memorable guitar hooks while cleansing their audience’s musical palate with soft-spoken, heartfelt ballads that even their mothers (wouldn't) approve of. The Britemores’ debut album is out soon on Jett Plastic Recordings.

The "seven-headed beast from the hard-scrabble streets of Menilmontant" and "those frilly Parisian underthings," Les Sans Culottes borrowed their name from the ill-clad (i.e., long-trousered) citizen-soldiers of the French Revolution. MUCK AND THE MIRES
LES SANS CULOTTES

"Taking their cue from that mythological Nuggets moment in 1966 when bands like The Remains, The Barbarians, and The Sonics spied the charts, Muck And The Mires turn simplicity into a virtue. Each song on their third long-player rants, raves, and gets out of town in about two minutes, leaving a swirl of hooks and guitar wreckage in its wake." -Uncut

#SaveNYC: The Brooklyn Show

THE ROCKSTEADY 7
LES SANS CULOTTES

"When I say they've destroyed New York's old stores, bars, restaurants, hangouts, I'm saying the real estate market has destroyed the sacred watering holes and gathering places
of the 20th century." -author Josh Alan Friedman

#SaveNYC is a grassroots, crowd-sourced D.I.Y. movement to protect and preserve the diversity and uniqueness of the urban fabric in New York City. As our vibrant streetscapes and neighborhoods are turned into bland, suburban-style shopping malls, filled with chain stores and glossy luxury retail, #SaveNYC is fighting for small businesses and cultural institutions to remain in place. Dead Flowers Productions is very proud to be working in solidarity with #SaveNYC to help raise awareness of the growing movement.  Through live music we hope to exchange ideas and dance the night away.

The Rocksteady 7 is an influential American ska and jazz band from NYC. Since the early 90's the group has consisted of tenor saxophonist and band leader David Hillyard as well as percussionist Larry McDonald. In live performances, they are supported by a rotating cast of musicians, including drummer Eddie Ocampo and Dave Wake on keys among others. Given reggae's globally reaching influence, the Rocksteady 7 holds true to the genre's roots and the self-described "Jamaican Jazz" sound combines ska, rocksteady and reggae with extended jazz improvisation, intricate melodies, and complex harmonies. The group incorporates many diverse elements of world music with rocksteady rhythms, including ska, jazz, calypso, as well as early African and American jazz influences.

The "seven-headed beast from the hard-scrabble streets of Menilmontant" and "those frilly Parisian underthings," Les Sans Culottes borrowed their name from the ill-clad (i.e., long-trousered) citizen-soldiers of the French Revolution. What do you get when you mix one professional good-time-girl with one rock'n'roll genius, and two sexy punk-rockers? Yup, it's Caroline And The Treats and their explosive bubblegum rock'n'roll.
