Keeping This World Alive

VALLEY LODGE
RIBEYE BROS.FALLING STARS

Valley Lodge is the best rock band basically. You might know them from their wildly popular song "Go," which serves as the theme song to HBO's Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Anyway, the band is comprised of singer and guitar player Dave Hill (the internationally renown comedian and writer who has also been a member of Cobra Verde, Sons of Elvis, Walter Schreifels Band, Diamondsnake, and some others too), drummer Rob Pfeiffer (Sense Field), guitar player and singer Phil Costello (Tragedy, Satanicide, Diamondsnake), and bass player man Eddie Eyeball (2 Skinnee J's, Gordon Gano, and more!) Guitar player and founding member John Kimbrough (Walt Mink, Teen Judge, Tenacious D) provides additional rock heat and spiritual guidance via his Los Angeles bunker. They sound kind of like Cheap Trick, T. Rex, Big Star, Raspberries, Thin Lizzy, Matthew Sweet, Slade, the Kinks, and probably a bunch of other stuff too. It's power-pop meets pop-rock meets your best friend's parents going out of town when you are sixteen and think that they won't notice if you threw a pool party. Oh, and it's 1978 and you are hooked on glue.

After three long years...
It's the triumphant return of The Brought Low!

The Brought Low are a hard rock power trio from New York City who formed in 1999. They released their self-titled debut record on Tee Pee Records in 2001. In 2006 they released their long awaited sophomore effort, Right On Time on Small Stone Records (Dixie Witch, Sasquatch, 5 Hose Johnson). The record was hailed as an instant classic by The Boston Phoenix, Lollipop, Roadburn and Stonerrock.com among others. Third Record, their last album for Small Stone, was produced by Andrew Schneider (Pelican, Cave In, Scissorfight). The band is known for its live show and has shared the stage with Them Crooked Vultures, Supersuckers and Nebula among others and has performed at the Emissions From The Monolith and South By Southwest music festivals.

"[Andi Rae's] vocals are at once potent, powerful, fragile, beckoning, vulnerable yet guarded. She writes like someone who has tasted her share of life; has been hurt; has been exhilarated; has found and lost her faith. There is a dare in this music... -BuddyHollywood

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Andi Rae Healy has been a mainstay on New York City’s indie-country scene for nearly a decade. Her debut album, I Guess I Am A Sinner — featuring contributions from artists as diverse as pop princess, Cyndi Lauper and indie darling, Jill Sobule — was released in 2006 and earned rave reviews for its deep melodicism, lush production, and its brutally honest and painfully heartfelt lyrics.

Darn That Dream

Birth Of The Cool is an acoustic jazz group based in Brooklyn, New York, which lovingly re-imagines the music of legendary trumpet player Miles Davis from the 1940s and 1950s. This incredibly fertile era of Miles Davis’ music spans rhythm and blues, the invention of bebop, the creation of cool jazz, and the development of hard bop, as well as the inception of modal jazz music.

Birth Of The Cool features a combination of veteran NYC-based musicians, as well as new faces on the scene, including trumpet player and producer Jeremy Mush1 (The Slackers/Hungry March Band/Fireproof/The Scorchers), drummer Luis Zuluaga (The Slackers), pianist Harold Weg, baritone saxophonist Patrick Laslie, and tenor saxophonist Andrew Schwandt.

    Life, Love, And Leaving

    THE DETROIT COBRAS
    MR. AIRPLANE MAN
    KEN BUTLER • DJ ASHUS

Crawling out from the weed-choked lots of the once proud town, The Detroit Cobras whip out ass-shaking anthems to good times, wild times, and the high and lows of L-U-V; you best believe it and you best not mess with it.

Blurring the lines between R&B and R&R and soul, the Cobras are THE go-to party band for those in the know. Singer Rachel Nagy and guitarist Mary Ramirez are the bad girls by the exit doors at the school dance, all leather and heels, sneaking smokes and passing the flask. They have no time for dewy-eyed love songs or girl group decorum; they'll take care of business themselves with a bat of the eye or an elbow to the kidney. Rachel's "warm as the half pint of bourbon under the seat of your car" voice can boom to the back pews (Did we say "pews?" We meant "barstools") and Mary's riffs let you know that love and good times can be found in the tilt of a hip or at the end of a fist.

Surrounding themselves with a rotationg cast of some of Motown's finest rockers, the Cobras specialize in unearthing and reinvigorating the hits, near hits and sometimes total misses from the deep and groovy history of soul, and making them THEIR OWN.  Detroit Cobras albums are like a secret decoder ring that helps lead the way to a better, more soulful forgotten world.

    Open My Mind

    MR. AIRPLANE MAN
THE PIGGIESEDISON ROCKET TRAIN • HONEY

"The duo manages to make the now familiar line-up of guitar and drums sound urgent again, and they spit out both gritty, saturated blue-rock and airy, almost Spector-esque pop with a quiet strength."

Mr. Airplane Man is Margaret on guitar and Tara on drums. Their sound is a mishmash of Mississippi hill country blues, Memphis weirdo rock'n'roll, drony VU and Stooges, and Boston garage-beat and pop wonderment. The band started in the late '90s. Almost immediately, they joined Morphine for a US tour and recorded a self-titled EP with Mark Sandman of Morphine. They went on to tour the US extensively, playing with The Reigning Sound, White Stripes, Detroit Cobras, Holly GoLightly, Hot Snakes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blues Explosion, Dirtbombs and many more.

During the '90s and '00s, Mr. Airplane Man released three albums and an EP on Sympathy for the Record Industry. They successfully toured Europe and played two Peel Sessions on John Peel’s BBC radio show. Now Mr. Airplane Man is happy to be playing and recording again, after taking a break to have babies, live in the desert, and generally shake up their lives.

    THE TRACYS
WHORES • BEDPAN FIGHT • KING PUSSY FACE

"Blistering old school punk rock outfit The Tracys are as clear an '80s punk revival as it gets." - Michael Haskoor, The Deli Magazine

Raised on '80s punk with a side of maple syrup, Alberta native Dave Klym (The Mike Plume Band, The Populars, Itch) is the driving force behind The Tracys monster hooks and blazing solos. On rhythm guitars, John Payne (Puppetbox) has been known to contribute harmonies as silky as his  well-coiffed hair.  Larry Mancini  holds down the fort on the bass guitar with a little bit of whimsy, and a belly full of pizza. Anchoring this operation is drummer Matt Ernst, whose thunderous beats form the foundation for the group's aggressive style.  With infectious melodies and gallows humor, The Tracys' brand of pop punk holds true to the sensibilities of old-school west coast punk. With the release of their 3rd record, Humdinger, The Tracys continue to hone their signature sound, taking aim at what ails us with a double barreled blast of music and mayhem.
